There were several sessions on Monday the 4th of June and Friday and Saturday the 8th and 9th of June, 2012. Several prominent scholars discussed the theme in its various topics. Among them were: Paul Balta, Jean Paul Charnay, Yahya Cheickh, Dominique de Courcelles, Beddy Ebnou, Johan Galtung, Zaydan Khoulif, Ahmet Ali Basic, Mooredine Fridhi, Eric Geoffroy, Pierre Lafrance, Adrien Leites, Kader Merbouh, Mohammed Mraizika, and Majed Nehme.
Dr. Jamal Barzinji, Vice President of IIIT, and Dr. Hisham Altalib from Washington D.C. participated in the sessions with presentations and discussions. Dr. Anas al Sheikh-Ali, the IIIT Regional Academic Advisor (Europe) from the London office presented his paper on “Islamophobic Discourse Masquerading as Art and Literature.”
Dr. Beddy Ebnou, the Director of IESE, welcomed the scholars in the opening session and concluded the seminar by thanking them for their excellent scholarly papers. He also thanked the professional translators for their English-French instantaneous translation.
The delegation of IIIT from Washington and London, together with Dr. Beddy Ebnou from Paris, visited several academic institutions in Brussels. Dr. Barzinji was invited to deliver the Friday khutba at the new Masjid al Noor in Brussels.
