An International conference was organized by the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), Nigeria Office in Northwest University, Kano, from June 25th to 28th, 2013. The theme of the conference was Islamic Universities: Philosophy and Practice. Over 30 papers were presented on theoretical, empirical and practical issues concerning Islamic universities both in Nigeria and abroad.
The conference had two main objectives:
Among the participants at the Conference were His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto (represented by the Emir of Kazaure, Alhaji Najib Hussain Adamu), the Vice Chancellor, Northwest University, Professor Dato Razali Agus, the honorable Commissioner of Information, Kano State, Professor Umar Faruk Jibril, Professor Hamza Mustafa Njozi, the Vice Chancellor of Muslim University, Morogoro, Tanzania, and Dr. Muhamad El-Sheikh from Howard University, Washington, USA, among others.
