Professor Heidi Hadsell, President of Hartford Seminary, announced the appointment of Professor Yehezkel Landau, Faculty Associate in Interfaith Relations, as the first occupant of the chair in Abrahamic Partnerships. Dr. Abubaker Al Shingieti, Executive Director of IIIT USA, who attended the launching ceremony that preceded the Hartford Seminary Board of Trustees meeting , said: “ The launch of the Abrahamic Partnerships Chair is another milestone in the rich legacy of Hartford Seminary as a poineering institutions in the study and actual enhancement of interfaith relations". He commended the visionary leadership of Professor Heidi Hadsell, her faculty and staff and the members of the Board of Trustees for their wisdom and hard work that culminated in the establishment of the Chair.
It is noteworthy that Hartford seminary will celebrate the establishment of the Chair in Islamic Studies and Muslim Chaplaincy - that was established through a generous gift from IIIT - at Hartford seminary in mid March 2013. IIIT and Hartfor Seminary are working on several special events that would be organized during the celebrations, including a panel on the state of Islamic Studies in American Universitis, a film screeing and a banquet dinner that will bring together interfaith leaders and scholars, community members and students.
