It was a joyful evening of breaking fast together and enjoying a fine dinner on September 18 when IIIT directors and staff invited some Muslim and non-Muslim friends of IIIT for its third annual Ramadhan event. The invitees had working relationship with IIIT on various projects during the past year. Good company and good conversation highlighted the evening.
Before the Maghrib prayer, Iftar and dinner the guest viewed a slide show about the work of IIIT.
Among those making brief remarks at the dinner was Herndon Councilman Downer, representing the Mayor of Herndon, who welcomed the guest to the Town. University of Maryland Professor Charles Butterworth spoke of the need for Muslims to exert more effort in explaining Islam to people of other faiths. George Mason Associate Vice President for Development Marsha Ray and IIIT Vice President Dr. Jamal Barzinji each spoke of the growing relationship between IIIT and George Mason University. The visiting Mayor of the village of Aqaba in Palestine also addressed the dinner audience. Earlier Dr. Hisham Altalib welcomed the guest and spoke of lessons to be learned from Ramadhan.
