Dr. Calvin Allen, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Shenandoah University, has been promoted to Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, according to an announcement by SU Vice president Byron L. Grigsby on September 3, 2008.
As Arts and Sciences Dean, Dr. Allen signed last year an agreement with IIIT to cooperate in “course development, educational programs, and research with a goal of promoting an understanding of Islam and Muslims in America, and Islamic civilization and culture,” based on “the principles of equality and reciprocal benefit.”
In a message to Dr. Allen, IIIT Vice President Jamal Barzinji expressed “heart-felt congratulations on [your] being elevated to a post that recognizes your contribution to helping Shenandoah embrace its core values which include ‘Respect for diverse cultures, experiences, and perspectives,’ and ‘Dedication to citizenship, professional service and global outreach.’”
“We look forward to continued cooperation between Shenandoah University and IIIT under your visionary leadership,” Dr. Barzinji added. |
