Fiqh Council Discusses Role of Custom in Jurisprudence

The Fiqh Council of North America is engaged in a discussion of what role custom and customary practice in a society play in the formulation of Islamic jurisprudence. A full-day of presentations and discussion was hosted by IIIT at its headquarters in Herndon, Virginia on July 31. The Council is likely to issue a opinion paper following its next round of deliberation on this subject.
