"It (din al-fitrah) gives him the world to reknead and remold in the service of God. To serve God is  hence to create culture and civilization. But this is none other than to attain the highest possible self-fulfillment."

Thursday, October 30, 2008 :: 708 Views

The Association of Muslim Social Scientists of North America (AMSS) held its 37th Annual Conference on October 24-25, 2008. Since it was hosted by the Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, MA, it was held on its campus in Andover Hall. This year’s conference consisted of seven panel sessions which highlighted the annual theme “Crossing Boundaries: Mobilizing Faith, Diversity and Dialogue.” The panelists addressed many of the challenges facing the international community; namely inter- and intra-faith dialogue, while focusing on ways to promote peace-building and mitigate conflict resolution through the power of religion. The conference was well attended and covered by local media. In addition to the many scholars from across the country, it was attended by students from Harvard and area universities within the Boston area.
