Egyptian Muslim scholar Dr. Ahmed Subhi Mansour presented the findings of his current research on "Hadd al rajm" (penalty of stoning) in Sharia to an invited audience at IIIT HQ on July 20. Dr. Mansour is working on a book based on his ongoing research in this subject. |

Imam Tariq Oubrou, a leading Imam in the French Muslim community visited IIIT headquarters on July 20 as part of a State Department sponsored visitors program. Besides presenting and discussing the situation of Muslims in France, Imam Tariq also addressed a panel of IIIT interns who have been taking courses and doing research projects during their internship at IIIT. |

The Fiqh Council of North America is engaged in a discussion of what role custom and customary practice in a society play in the formulation of Islamic jurisprudence. A full-day of presentations and discussion was hosted by IIIT at its headquarters in Herndon, Virginia on July 31. The Council is likely to issue a opinion paper following its next round of deliberation on this subject. |
