3 IIIT books have been translated into 2 languages: Urdu and Hindi. Urdu tranlations include Dr. Jamal Attiya's book Fiqh of Minorities, and Dr. Abdur Rahman Al Kilani's book Imam Shatibi's Principles of Higher Objectives. The Hindi book is the translation of Liberation of Women During the Time of the Prophet. |

 The Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue (CISD) at Nazareth College, Rochester, New York celebrated its 4th anniversary on Monday, April 27th, 2009. Dr. Abubaker al Shingieti, IIIT Regional Director for Europe and North America, represented IIIT at the event. He addressed the banquet dinner and thanked the leadership of Nazareth College for their pioneering work in bridging the academia and the faith community in the Rochester area. He also expressed IIIT’s satisfaction and support for the work of CISD and its remarkable achievements in the past four years under the leadership of its capable Director, Professor Mohammad Shafiq. |

The University of Delaware Center for Islamic Studies organized a conference on “The American Muslim Community and the US Government: the Need for Constructive Engagement”, on Tuesday, April 28th at the main campus of the University of Delaware.
The conference – which was moderated by Professor Muqtedar Khan, Director of the Islamic Studies Program – brought together several Muslim community leaders from organizations such as the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Muslim American Society (MAS Freedom ), and the American Muslims for Constructive Engagement (AMCE); beside representatives from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

 As part of its International Visitor Program, IIIT welcomed a group of Muslim scholars and leaders from Southeast Asia on Monday, April 21, 2009. The visitors from Thailand and the Philippines have been touring the U.S. with the State Department program “Faith and Community: A Dialogue.” The Indiana Center for Cultural Exchange and the President’s Office at Georgetown University coordinated this particular visit. |
